MEET NEETU - A MOM-OF-TWO WHO SUPPORTS HER FAMILY

After training at the SCIP SEWS Women Empowerment Project, Neetu started working as a Seamstress. When her husband was caught transporting illegal stuff and put behind the bars, Neetu stepped up her game and decided that she was going to be the breadwinner for her family. She currently supports her two children and puts them through school. Determined to not let her children grow and live in the slum that they were born in, Neetu works extra hard to be able to afford their boarding school (hostel) fees. Now that her husband is out of jail and working on small jobs, Neetu's resolution to provide for her family has not wavered. At SCIP SEWS, we salute Neetu and all the women who face and overcome hardships. Please consider buying ethical clothing from our online store to support many such families.

Tara means star in the Hindi language. And she's rightly living up to her name. At fourteen she has decided what she wants to do for all her life. It is her life's ambition to become the best seasmstress. She's fulfilling her dream with the help of SCIP SEWS. She's training with our in-house tailors and also working on School Uniform Project for SCIP ECO School. What's more, Tara is also putting her sixteen year old brother through school. When her brother cleared his high school examination with a first class division, Tara was euphoric! Her story is inspirational to all and she could well be a lead in a movie story about women empowerment. When you shop ethical clothing from an honest not-for-profit organisation like SCIP SEWS you help Tara and many other girls like her to shine brightly and to achieve their life's dreams.

Aarti works as a seamstress at SCIP SEWS and receives free medical healthcare at the SCIP Medical clinic. She is currently five months pregnant and is under the supervision of Dr. Khushboo. Since her second pregnancy was a stillbirth (Intrauterine Fetal Death) which had to be aborted, she is being given extra care. Kranti Bandhu, a SCIP Sews volunteer, is also taking special care of Aarti by making sure that her pregnancy is carried to the term. For this purpose, she was given progesterone tablets for the initial three months of her pregnancy. Her first born is a daughter who studies in the playgroup section at the SCIP ECO (Equality, Compassion, Opportunity) School. When you shop from SCIP SEWS, you are proactively helping women like Aarti to educate their kids. 100% profit goes back to the not-for-profit projects at the Saving Children in Poverty (NGO).
